The story began in the offices the parent company of Opus, Purple Line, a leading manufacturer of caravan accessories such as motor movers and levelling aids.

Director Jonathan and Product Design Manager Stuart were discussing the fact that the potential audience for their wonderful designs represented less than 1% of the population yet there are plenty more people out there who love travel, and who want the freedom to just pack up and go, but simply aren’t drawn to caravans?  After all, caravans don’t exactly spark excitement. They rarely inspire dreams of adventure—more often conjuring images of dated interiors and stressful towing. On top of that, they’re bulky and difficult to store year-round.

They decided what was missing was something different: a kind of “canvas caravan”—spacious, comfortable, and fully equipped, yet able to fold neatly into a compact, easy-to-tow trailer.  As one might put it: perfect for those who want a touch of luxury but still prefer canvas over a sealed box.

So in a nutshell, Opus campers were born, carefully designed and built to deliver exceptional strength, durability, and ease of use—while keeping overall weight as low as possible.
